What this amendment would do

Mr. Peters submitted amendment numbered SA 484 to be proposed to the concurrent resolution S. Con. Res. 7 for the fiscal year 2025 budget. Common sense tells us we need to keep an eye on how our elected officials handle money, and this amendment is all about setting up a deficit-neutral reserve fund.

What It Aims to Change or Add

  • The amendment aims to add a new section to the end of title III of the budget resolution.

  • It allows the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to make adjustments and revise allocations and other appropriate levels for legislation relating to unfreezing all funds allocated to projects under the Infrastructure Investments and Jobs Act.

  • It requires that any such legislation does not increase the deficit over the total period of fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
