What this amendment would do

Mr. Peters put forward this amendment to deal with keeping air service reliable for folks living in rural communities.

What It Aims to Change or Add

  • It adds a new section to the budget resolution for a deficit-neutral reserve fund.

  • It lets the Chairman of the Senate Committee on the Budget adjust financial levels and the pay-as-you-go ledger for legislation that ensures reliable air service in rural areas.

  • The changes can support the Essential Air Service Program, expand the Small Community Air Service Development Grant, or invest in small airport infrastructure.

  • Any legislation using this fund must not increase the deficit from fiscal year 2025 through fiscal year 2034.
