What this amendment would do
MR. PETERS submitted this amendment, numbered SA 482, for the concurrent resolution on the budget for the United States Government for fiscal year 2025 and levels for fiscal years 2026 through 2034.
The purpose of the amendment is to add a DEFICIT-NEUTRAL RESERVE FUND RELATING TO CANCELLING OR PREVENTING ACROSS-THE-BOARD TARIFFS ON CANADA THAT WOULD CRIPPLE UNITED STATES MANUFACTURERS AND THE AUTO INDUSTRY WHILE RAISING PRICES FOR CONSUMERS at the end of title III.
- It aims to allow the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to revise committee allocations, aggregates, and other appropriate levels in the resolution.
- It allows the Chairman to make adjustments to the pay-as-you-go ledger for legislation related to cancelling or preventing across-the-board tariffs on Canada.
- It applies to bills, joint resolutions, amendments, amendments between the Houses, motions, or conference reports, provided that the legislation does not increase the deficit over the total period of fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
