What this amendment would do
-
Mr. Sanders submitted this amendment, numbered SA 478, to be proposed to the concurrent resolution setting the budget for fiscal year 2025 through 2034.
-
The amendment adds a deficit-neutral reserve fund relating to fair taxation at the end of title III of the budget resolution.
Its Purpose
-
The purpose is to allow the Chairman of the Senate Committee on the Budget to revise committee allocations, aggregates, and other appropriate levels in the resolution.
-
It allows adjustments to the pay-as-u-go ledger for legislation relating to fair taxation, which may include ending tax breaks for the top 1 percent or extending tax breaks for working families.
-
This can only happen if the legislation does not increase the deficit over the total period of fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
