What this amendment would do
This amendment, proposed by Mr. Wyden and several other members, is called the Protecting Health Care and Lowering Costs Act. Its purpose is to change specific health care provisions and tax credits.
The amendment aims to add the following to the bill:
-
Repeal of Health Provisions: It seeks to repeal subtitle B of title VII of an Act to provide for reconciliation (Public Law 119-21), with certain exceptions for sections 71202, 71306, and 71401.
-
Rural Health Funding: It changes the Social Security Act to ensure that funds allocated to a State from the rural health transformation program remain available until they are expended.
-
Tax Credit Extension: It provides a permanent extension of an enhanced tax credit by removing the 400 percent limit in section 36B(c)(1) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986. It also establishes a sliding scale for applicable premium percentages based on household income tiers, effective for taxable years starting after December 31, 2025.
