What this amendment would do

SA 4627, submitted by Mr. Schiff, aims to add a section regarding National Wildlife Refuge System staff and closures to bill S. 1383.

The amendment requires the Director of the United States Fish and Wildlife Service to do the following:

Reinstate terminated personnel or hire new personnel to return the National Wildlife Refuge System staffing levels to what they were on January 20, 2025.
Restaff and reopen any unit of the System that was closed on or after January 20, 2025.
Provide Congress with a plan to address staffing capacity within the System.
