What this amendment would do

SA 4614, submitted by Mr. Hickenlooper, aims to add a section to bill S. 1383 that prohibits the mandatory disposal of public land.

The purpose of this amendment is to ensure that the Secretary of the Interior or the Secretary of Agriculture cannot sell, exchange, or transfer public land unless they follow existing Federal law procedures, specifically:

The Federal Land Policy and Management Act of 1976.
The Recreation and Public Purposes Act of June 14, 1926.
The first section of Public Law 85-569.
