What this amendment would do
SA 4583, submitted by Mr. Wyden, aims to change the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 by adding a section regarding an increase in the top individual tax rate.
The purpose of this amendment is to modify income tax brackets for high-income taxpayers. Specifically, it aims to:
-
Change the 37-percent rate bracket to 39.6 percent for taxable income that exceeds an applicable threshold.
-
Set the applicable threshold at $1,000,000,000 for certain paragraphs, and 1/2 of that amount for paragraph (2)(D).
