What this amendment would do
SA 4528, submitted by Mr. Wyden, aims to add a section to bill S. 1383 regarding the withdrawal of federal land in Curry County and Josephine County, Oregon.
The purpose of this amendment is to withdraw eligible federal land from the following:
- Entry, appropriation, or disposal under public land laws.
- Location, entry, and patent under mining laws.
- Operation under mineral leasing and geothermal leasing laws.
Eligible federal land is defined as land or interests in land shown on specific Bureau of Land Management maps dated January 12, 2015, for the Hunter Creek and Pistol River Headwaters Withdrawal Proposal and the Rough and Ready and Baldface Creeks Mineral Withdrawal Proposal, as well as any land in those proposals acquired by the Federal Government after the Act is enacted.
The amendment requires that these maps be made available to the public at Bureau of Land Management offices within 30 days of the Act's enactment.
This change does not restrict hunting, fishing, recreational uses, forest management activities, or other authorized uses that were allowed on the land on the date the Act is enacted.
