What this amendment would do

This amendment, submitted by Mr. Wyden, aims to add a section to bill S. 1383 that requires the Secretary of the Treasury to produce and report specific records related to Jeffrey Epstein.

Purpose and Changes

The amendment seeks to add the following requirements:

  • Production of Records: Within 30 days of the Act being enacted, the Secretary of the Treasury must provide physical copies of all suspicious activity reports involving Jeffrey Epstein, his co-conspirators (indicted or unindicted), and any third-party individuals or entities that transacted with him or any entity he owned or controlled. This includes a extensive list of specific individuals, companies, and banks.

  • Required Reports: The Secretary of the Treasury must submit two reports to specific Senate and House committees:

    • A report due within 30 days listing the financial institutions that filed the records, the individuals and entities flagged, and the total dollar value of the transactions organized by financial institution.
    • A report due within 60 days detailing all Department of the Treasury investigations (including those by the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network) into any federal law violations by financial institutions regarding the handling of the identified accounts.
