What this amendment would do
Mrs. Shaheen, alongside Ms. Smith and Mr. Warnock, submitted amendment SA 443 to the concurrent resolution on the budget for fiscal year 2025.
The purpose of this amendment is to add a deficit-neutral reserve fund relating to federal funding for rural hospitals and health care providers at the end of title III.
What It Aims to Change or Add
-
It allows the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to revise allocations, aggregates, and other levels in the resolution.
-
It allows adjustments to the pay-as-you-go ledger for legislation relating to preserving access to health care in rural communities.
-
It ensures funding, including Medicare and Medicaid, is not reduced for rural health providers, including rural hospitals, physicians, long-term care providers, or other health care providers operating in rural areas.
-
It ensures federal staffing is sufficient to process reimbursement for procedures and other administrative requirements.
-
It requires that the legislation would not increase the deficit over the total period of fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
