What this amendment would do

SA 4428, submitted by Mr. Murphy, is an amendment to bill S. 1383.

The purpose of this amendment is to change Section 5861 of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to add a new requirement for firearm purchases.

It aims to add the following:

A person must present documentary proof of United States citizenship to receive or possess a firearm.
This proof is defined based on section 3 of the National Voter Registration Act of 1993 (52 U.S.C. 20502).
