What this amendment would do
SA 4413, submitted by Mr. Murphy, aims to change the law regarding how assault weapons are sold.
The purpose of this amendment is to add a new requirement to Section 922 of title 18, United States Code. It would make it unlawful to sell or dispose of an assault weapon to anyone who does not provide documentary proof of United States citizenship.
The amendment specifies that this proof must be as defined in section 3 of the National Voter Registration Act of 1993 (52 U.S.C. 20502).
