What this amendment would do

SA 4389, submitted by Mr. Hagerty, is an amendment to bill H.R. 6644, which is a bill focused on increasing the supply of housing in America.

The amendment aims to change the following:

  • Restriction on Use of Assisted Housing: It amends Section 214(i)(2)(A) of the Housing and Community Development Act of 1980 by replacing the phrase "may, notwithstanding paragraph (1) of this subsection, elect not to" with "shall". It also adds "and" after the word "assistance".

  • Restricting Eligibility of Certain Noncitizens: It amends Section 214(b)(1) of the Housing and Community Development Act of 1980 by adding "or section 811" after "title III" and adding " (42 U.S.C. 12851 et seq., 8013), section 202 of the Housing Act of 1959 (12 U.S.C. 1701q)" after "Affordable Housing Act".
