What this amendment would do

SA 4330, submitted by Mr. Merkley, is an amendment to bill H.R. 6644, which aims to increase the supply of housing in America.

The purpose of this amendment is to add a section regarding home equity contracts to the Truth in Lending Act. It specifies that the requirements of Section 137 of that Act will apply to contracts that:

Require an upfront payment to the homeowner.
Require the payment to be paid back in the future (either after a set number of years or upon the sale of the home) based, in part, on the home's value.
