What this amendment would do

SA 4196, submitted by Mr. Cruz, is an amendment to S.J. Res. 98. The original resolution directs the removal of United States Armed Forces from hostilities in or against Venezuela that Congress did not authorize.

This amendment aims to add a new section to the bill stating that the following actions enhance United States national security and advance the democratic aspirations of the people of Venezuela:

  • The execution of the arrest warrant against Nicolas Maduro on January 3, 2026.
  • Subsequent efforts to prosecute him.
