What this amendment would do

Mrs. Shaheen submitted amendment SA 413, which is intended to be proposed to the concurrent resolution on the budget for fiscal year 2025 through fiscal year 2034.

The purpose of this amendment is to add a deficit-neutral reserve fund relating to supporting members of the Armed Forces, veterans, and their families.

It aims to allow the Chairman of the Senate Committee on the Budget to revise allocations, aggregates, and other appropriate levels in the resolution, and to make adjustments to the pay-as-you-go ledger for legislation that supports members of the Armed Forces, veterans, and their families.

Specifically, the changes or additions may include reinstating Federal employees fired during a probationary employment period who are family members of members of the Armed Forces or veterans, provided that the legislation does not increase the deficit over the total period of fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
