What this amendment would do
SA 4110, submitted by Mr. Markey, aims to add funding for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) to bill H.R. 4016.
The amendment proposes the following:
- An appropriation of $535,000,000 for fiscal year 2026.
- An additional $60,000,000 for replacing and upgrading the public broadcasting interconnection system and other technologies and services for infrastructure and efficiencies.
The amendment also adds rules on how the money can be used:
- Funds cannot be used for parties, receptions, or similar entertainment for employees or Government officials.
- Funds cannot support activities that discriminate against or exclude people based on sex, religion, national origin, color, or race.
- Funds cannot be used to apply political tests or qualifications for personnel actions regarding CPB employees, agents, or officers.
