What this amendment would do
SA 4096, submitted by Mr. Lujan, aims to add a section to bill H.R. 4016 regarding a cost-share waiver for the remediation of wildland fires.
The purpose of this amendment is to allow the Secretary of Agriculture to waive cost-share requirements for awards given to the following groups:
- Indian Tribes
- States
- Units of local government
- Individuals
These waivers apply to Federal programs authorized for wildland fire recovery to implement projects in areas affected by a wildland fire.
This applies to fires that the Secretary of Agriculture determines resulted from management activities conducted by the Secretary on National Forest System land, including any direct or indirect damage that causes watershed impairment.
