What this amendment would do
As folks working for you here in Congress, it is our job to keep a close eye on what our elected officials are up to and make sure things make common sense. Senators Bennet, Blumenthal, and Warren put forward an amendment, known as SA 408, to the concurrent resolution on the budget for fiscal year 2025.
The purpose of this amendment is to create a deficit-neutral reserve fund.
Here is what it aims to do:
- It focuses on making sure that active-duty military, reserve, or National Guard members are not engaged in domestic law enforcement activities at the United States southern border.
- It allows the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Budget to adjust financial levels and allocations for future legislation dealing with this specific issue, as long as that legislation does not increase the federal deficit between fiscal years 2025 and 2034.

- 2 Cosponsors added.
