What this amendment would do

SA 4024, submitted by Mrs. Shaheen, is an amendment to H.R. 4016, which is the appropriations bill for the Department of Defense for the fiscal year ending September 30, 2026.

The purpose of this amendment is to prevent the use of appropriated funds to:

  • Implement any prohibition on the Drug Enforcement Administration Forensic Sciences Laboratories appointing individuals to positions.

  • Furlough or remove any employee of the Forensic Sciences Laboratories.

  • Implement a reduction in force at Forensic Sciences Laboratories.

  • Otherwise reduce the number of employees of the Forensic Sciences Laboratories.
