What this amendment would do

SA 4021, submitted by Mrs. Shaheen, is an amendment to bill H.R. 4016, which deals with appropriations for the Department of Defense for the fiscal year ending September 30, 2026.

The purpose of this amendment is to ensure that funds from this Act or any other appropriations Act are not used to set criteria for giving or denying HUD program funds based on a jurisdiction's public policy, law, or regulation, provided that:

  • The policy, regulation, or law is adopted, continued, or discontinued under the jurisdiction's established authority.

  • The policy, regulation, or law does not violate any Federal law.
