What this amendment would do
SA 3989, submitted by Mr. Cornyn and Mr. Kelly, aims to change how military recruiters access secondary schools by amending Section 503(c)(1)(A) of title 10, United States Code.
The purpose of this amendment is to promote recruiter access to secondary schools for recruiting students who are at least 17 years old. Specifically, it seeks to require local educational agencies to:
-
Provide military recruiters access to secondary school campuses that is equivalent to the access given to other recruiters, institutions of higher education, or prospective employers.
-
Provide access to at least one in-person recruitment event, such as a career fair, per academic year when requested by a military recruiter.
-
Provide student names, addresses, telephone and mobile phone listings, and electronic mail addresses (school-provided addresses, if available) within 30 days of a request from a military recruiter.
- 12/15/2025
- Referred to the Committee on Armed Services.
- 1 Cosponsor added.
