What this amendment would do
SA 3975, submitted by Mr. Lee, aims to add a new subsection (g) to Section 710 of title 32, United States Code.
The purpose of this amendment is to dictate how the National Guard Bureau handles funds received as reimbursement from states, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, Guam, or the Virgin Islands for the use of military property.
Specifically, it changes the law to ensure:
-
Funds are credited back to the account used for the obligation or another available account used for the same purpose.
-
The Department of Defense can only use these funds for functions like repair and maintenance directly related to assets used by National Guard units while on State active duty status.
