What this amendment would do
Mr. Peters submitted amendment numbered SA 386 to the concurrent resolution on the budget for fiscal year 2025 through fiscal year 2034.
The purpose of this amendment is to add a deficit-neutral reserve fund relating to preventing the Trump administration, Elon Musk, and the so-called DOGE from illegally and unilaterally shutting down and eliminating federal agencies that serve the people of the United States and protect national security.
-
It allows the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to revise allocations, aggregates, and other appropriate levels in the resolution.
-
It allows adjustments to the pay-as-you-go ledger for legislation relating to ensuring Congress approves of the withholding of funds from, or the restructuring, reorganization, or elimination of, any agency of the executive branch.
-
It applies as long as that legislation does not increase the deficit over the total period of fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
