What this amendment would do

Mr. King submitted this amendment, known as SA 365, to be proposed for the congressional budget for the United States Government for fiscal year 2025 and for fiscal years 2026 through 2034. As folks we voted for handle our tax dollars, it is our job to keep an eye on how they set aside money for our veterans.

What It Aims to Change or Add

This amendment adds a deficit-neutral reserve fund to the end of title III of the budget resolution.

  • It allows the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to revise committee allocations, aggregates, and other appropriate levels in the resolution.
  • It allows the Chairman to make adjustments to the pay-as-you-go ledger for legislation relating to health care for veterans.
  • This specifically includes expanded obstetrics and gynecology health care and prevention services for veterans provided at community-based outpatient clinics operated by the Department of Veterans Affairs.
  • The changes can only happen if the legislation does not increase the deficit over the total period of fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
