What this amendment would do

Mr. Welch submitted SA 354, which is an amendment about promoting rural broadband deployment.

The purpose of this amendment is to allow the Chairman of the Senate Committee on the Budget to change budget allocations and make adjustments for legislation related to rural broadband deployment, as long as that legislation does not increase the deficit from fiscal year 2025 through 2034.

  • Prohibiting rescissions to the Broadband, Equity, Access, and Deployment program
  • Ensuring the National Telecommunications and Information Administration distributes previously appropriated funds to States in a timely fashion
  • Prohibiting rescissions to the Department of Agriculture's ReConnect Program
