What this amendment would do

SA 3485, submitted by Mr. REED, is an amendment to H.R. 3944. This bill deals with appropriations for military construction, the Department of Veterans Affairs, and related agencies for the fiscal year ending September 30, 2026.

The purpose of this amendment is to stop the use of funds from this Act or any other Act for the following:

  • Entering into a settlement agreement, consent decree, or other agreement in a civil action.

This restriction applies if the agreement would:

  • Affect the classification or regulation of any device defined as a firearm under section 5845 of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986.
  • Otherwise preclude enforcement of the law regarding those devices.
