What this amendment would do
Mr. Kelly submitted SA 329 to the congressional budget for the United States Government for fiscal year 2025.
-
The purpose of the amendment is to create a deficit-neutral reserve fund relating to supporting Federal law enforcement personnel to continue combating drug trafficking and protecting them from the workforce reductions directed by the Department of Government Efficiency.
-
It aims to allow the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to revise allocations, aggregates, and other appropriate levels in the resolution, and make adjustments to the pay-as-you-go ledger, for legislation relating to protecting Federal employees who combat drug trafficking.
-
It aims to add legislation that would prohibit the reassignment, termination, or laying off of Federal employees whose job is to disrupt, investigate, or prosecute drug trafficking or keep communities drug-free.
-
It also aims to prohibit reduction in force actions for any Federal agency with a mission that includes protecting the people of the United States against drug trafficking or the illegal sale of dangerous drugs, provided that the legislation would not increase the deficit over the total of fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
