What this amendment would do
Mr. Kelly submitted amendment SA 327 to set up a deficit-neutral reserve fund. The plain purpose of this is to support federal law enforcement personnel who keep us safe by combating human trafficking, and to protect them from workforce cuts ordered by the Department of Government Efficiency.
This amendment aims to allow the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to revise budget allocations, aggregates, and other appropriate levels for legislation that protects these specific federal workers. Specifically, it aims to allow changes for legislation that would:
-
Prohibit the reassignment, termination, or laying off of federal employees whose job is to disrupt, investigate, or prosecute human trafficking.
-
Prohibit reduction in force actions for any federal agency whose mission includes protecting the people of the United States against human trafficking.
