What this amendment would do

SA 3121, submitted by Ms. Klobuchar, aims to change the funding allocations within bill H.R. 3944.

The amendment proposes the following:

  • It adds $250,000 for Agricultural Programs--Agricultural Research Service--Salaries and Expenses to speed up fiber research on industrial hemp between the Cotton Fiber Bioscience and Utilization Research Unit and the Cereal Disease Laboratory. This includes cooperative agreements with qualified nonprofit organizations.

  • It reduces the amount appropriated for the Office of Assistant Secretary for Congressional Relations and Intergovernmental Affairs under the heading Agricultural Programs--Processing, Research, and Marketing--Office of the Secretary by $250,000.
