What this amendment would do
Mr. Wyden submitted SA 305, which aims to add a new section to title III regarding the safety and welfare of unaccompanied children.
What It Aims to Change or Add
-
The amendment adds a deficit-neutral reserve fund relating to the safety and welfare of unaccompanied children to the concurrent resolution.
-
It allows the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to revise committee allocations, aggregates, and other appropriate levels, and make adjustments to the pay-as-you-go ledger.
-
These adjustments are for legislation relating to the safety and welfare of unaccompanied children, provided the legislation does not increase the deficit over the total of fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
-
The legislation may include ensuring that every unaccompanied child has access to legal representation for immigration proceedings or post-release case management services, such as services that allow the child to successfully transition into the community.
