The purpose of this amendment is to use funds from the Department of Veterans Affairs for fiscal year 2026 under "Medical Services" to create a four-year competitive grant program. This program, run by the Veterans Health Administration, is designed to help community-based outpatient clinics pilot projects that:
- Improve care delivery
- Reduce no-show rates
- Enhance health outcomes for veterans
The grant funds can be used for:
- Establishing integrated behavioral health models
- Expanding telehealth
- Conducting peer support initiatives
- Conducting mobile care outreach
Additionally, the Secretary of Veterans Affairs must provide an implementation and evaluation plan for this program to the Committee on Appropriations of the Senate and the House of Representatives within 180 days of the Act's enactment, and every year after that.
