What this amendment would do
Mr. Heinrich submitted amendment numbered SA 302, which is a deficit-neutral reserve fund relating to improving the interdiction of fentanyl and illicit substances at the southern border.
What It Aims to Change or Add
The amendment aims to add a new section to the end of title III of the concurrent resolution.
- It allows the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to revise committee allocations, aggregates, and other appropriate levels.
- It allows adjustments to the pay-as-you-go ledger for legislation relating to expanding and modernizing land ports of entry.
- The purpose of expanding and modernizing these ports of entry is to better detect and intercept illicit fentanyl, firearms, and currency.
- These changes can only happen if the legislation does not increase the deficit over the total period of fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
