What this amendment would do

SA 3017, submitted by Ms. Hirono, is an amendment to be proposed to amendment SA 2976 and bill H.R. 3944. This bill deals with appropriations for military construction, the Department of Veterans Affairs, and related agencies for the fiscal year ending September 30, 2026.

The purpose of this amendment is to ensure that funds in title II are not used to stop woman veterans from getting abortion services or counseling. This applies if a health care professional determines it is medically necessary because:

  • The life or health of the pregnant woman would be endangered if the pregnancy continued.
  • The pregnancy resulted from incest or rape.
