What this amendment would do

SA 3016, submitted by Ms. Hirono, aims to add a requirement for the Secretary of Veterans Affairs to provide a report to Congress.

The purpose of this amendment is to hold the Department of Veterans Affairs accountable for its return to in-office work policy by requiring a report within 60 days of the Act's enactment detailing the following:

  • Costs of the policy, including past and projected expenses for more office space, modifying existing space, relocation incentives, and transit subsidies or reimbursements.

  • Staff commuting two or more hours each way to follow the policy.

  • Staff working in Federal facilities that are not leased or owned by the Department because of the policy.
