What this amendment would do

SA 2996, submitted by Mr. Blumenthal, aims to add a section titled "Multigenerational Impact of Toxic Exposures" to title II of division A of bill H.R. 3944.

The purpose of this amendment is to:

  • Use at least $10,000,000 from the "Cost of War Toxic Exposures Fund" to create an agreement with the Agency for Toxic Substance and Disease Registry.

  • Direct the Agency to perform a literature review on health effects for decedents of veterans and members of the Armed Forces who were exposed to toxic substances during their duty.

  • Require the Agency to research the link between specific military toxic exposures and the health conditions of descendants of veterans and members of the Armed Forces.

  • Require the creation of a public website to share the Agency's findings and activities.
