What this amendment would do
MR. WARNOCK, along with Ms. Warren, submitted amendment SA 297 to the concurrent resolution S. Con. Res. 7 for the fiscal year 2025 congressional budget.
The purpose of this amendment is to create a point of order in the Senate against legislation that makes it harder for eligible people to use Medicaid. Specifically, it aims to target bills, joint resolutions, motions, amendments, amendments between the Houses, and conference reports that would:
- Create barriers for individuals eligible for Medicaid by using bureaucratic red tape.
- Establish onerous conditions of eligibility that make it more difficult for people to access health care.
- Result in eligible Americans losing access to health care.
If someone raises a point of order under this rule, it can only be waived, suspended, or sustained on appeal by a three-fifths affirmative vote of the Senators who are duly chosen and sworn.
