What this amendment would do
MR. REED submitted amendment SA 275 to the concurrent resolution S. Con. Res. 7 for the fiscal year 2025 budget.
Purpose of the Amendment
The main goal of this amendment is to hold our officials accountable by making sure we take care of everyday people before giving breaks to the rich. It creates a point of order in the Senate, which is just a rule blocking certain actions.
What It Aims to Change
-
It stops the Senate from considering any bill, resolution, motion, or amendment that lowers taxes for the wealthiest Americans.
-
This restriction stays in place until the Social Security Fairness Act is fully implemented and all of its benefits are paid out.
-
This rule can only be bypassed or a ruling appealed with a three-fifths vote of the sworn Senators.
