What this amendment would do

Mr. King submitted amendment SA 257 to the concurrent resolution on the budget for fiscal year 2025 through 2034.

  • The amendment adds a new section to the bill creating a deficit-neutral reserve fund.

  • It allows the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to change allocations and make other adjustments for legislation relating to strengthening the energy independence of the United States.

  • The legislation can include prohibiting the sale of natural gas to the People's Republic of China, the Russian Federation, Iran, and North Korea.

  • The added rule requires that any such legislation does not increase the deficit over the total period of fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
