What this amendment would do
-
Mr. Van Hollen submitted amendment SA 232 to the concurrent resolution S. Con. Res. 7.
-
The amendment adds a new section to the end of title III that creates a deficit-neutral reserve fund.
-
This fund relates to ensuring full funding for public schools serving students from low-income households.
-
It allows the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to revise allocations, aggregates, and other appropriate levels, and make adjustments to the pay-as-you-go ledger.
-
These changes apply to legislation relating to ensuring full funding for public schools serving students from low-income households, which may include fully funding title I of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 by the end of fiscal year 2034.
-
The condition for these adjustments is that the legislation must not increase the deficit over the total period of fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
