What this amendment would do

Mrs. Shaheen submitted amendment SA 2288 to be proposed for the bill S. 1582. The purpose of this amendment is to add a section called Intelligence Support for Ukraine.

Main Changes and Additions

The amendment aims to change the bill by requiring the Secretary of Defense to provide certain support to the Government of Ukraine. Here is what is included:

The Secretary of Defense shall provide intelligence support, which includes information, intelligence, and imagery collection authorized under title 10, United States Code.
This support is given to the Government of Ukraine to support its military operations.
These operations must be specifically intended or reasonably expected to defend the territory of Ukraine or to retake territory of Ukraine held by Russian Federation-led military forces before February 24, 2022.
The term territory of Ukraine specifically includes the Donbas and Crimea.
