What this amendment would do
As folks who want to keep an eye on our government and hold our elected officials accountable, we need to know what is being proposed. Mr. Paul submitted the SA 2266 amendment to the bill S. 1582, which deals with regulating payment stablecoins.
The purpose of this amendment is to add audit reform and transparency for the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System. It aims to make the following changes:
- Require the Comptroller General of the United States to complete an audit of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System and the Federal reserve banks no later than 12 months after the Act is enacted.
- Require a report on the audit to be submitted to Congress and made available to specific leaders and members of Congress no later than 90 days after the audit is completed.
