What this amendment would do
Mr. Murphy submitted SA 222, which proposes adding a new section to the concurrent resolution. Common sense tells us that the people we vote for and the folks they put in charge need to be transparent about where their money comes from.
What It Aims to Change or Add
-
The amendment sets up a deficit-neutral reserve fund.
-
It allows the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to make adjustments and revise allocations for legislation that requires certain people to publicly disclose financial transactions or investments involving a foreign person or foreign government.
-
This requirement applies to all special advisors to the President or special Government employees appointed on or after January 20, 2025, whether they are paid or unpaid.
-
Any legislation for this purpose cannot increase the deficit over the total period of fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
