What this amendment would do
Mr. Bennet proposed this amendment, known as SA 215, to the concurrent resolution on the budget for fiscal year 2025. It deals with protecting our national security and keeping tabs on who is buying land near our troops.
What It Aims to Change or Add
- This amendment adds a new deficit-neutral reserve fund to the end of title III of the budget resolution.
- Its purpose is to relate to requiring notification to the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States of all purchases of land within 50 miles of a United States military installation by persons from countries of concern.
- It allows the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to revise allocations and make adjustments for legislation relating to protecting the security of United States military installations.
- Any such legislation must not increase the deficit over the total period of fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
