What this amendment would do
As folks who rely on our elected officials to spend our money wisely, we need to know what our government is up to. This amendment, submitted by Mr. Bennet, deals with the federal budget and sets up a special reserve fund.
Purpose and Changes
-
The amendment adds a new section to the budget resolution that focuses on cybersecurity.
-
Its main goal is to expand cybersecurity infrastructure to fight off threats from foreign adversaries that the federal government has identified as countries of concern.
-
It gives the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate the power to change certain budget allocations and adjustments for related legislation.
-
The catch to keep our leaders accountable is that any legislation using this fund must not increase the deficit over the total of fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
