What this amendment would do
Mr. Gallego put forward this amendment for the Senate budget resolution for fiscal year 2025. It deals with setting up a specific fund to tackle health risks.
What It Aims to Change or Add
The amendment adds a new section to the end of title III of the bill. This new section creates a deficit-neutral reserve fund that focuses on addressing the public health risk of avian flu.
It allows the Chairman of the Senate Committee on the Budget to change budget allocations and make adjustments for legislation related to avian flu. The catch is that this legislation cannot increase the deficit between fiscal years 2025 and 2034.
