What this amendment would do

Mr. Coons submitted amendment SA 176, which is intended to be proposed for the concurrent resolution on the budget for fiscal year 2025 through fiscal year 2034.

The purpose of this amendment is to add a deficit-neutral reserve fund that relates to honoring our commitment to Afghans who served with the United States Armed Forces.

It aims to allow the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to revise committee allocations, aggregates, other appropriate levels, and make adjustments to the pay-as-you-go ledger. These changes can be made for legislation relating to honoring our commitment to Afghans who served with the United States Armed Forces, including supporting pathways to ensure they are not in danger of reprisal due to their service.

To make these changes happen, the legislation must not increase the deficit over the total period of fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
