What this amendment would do

Mr. Coons submitted amendment SA 173 to the concurrent resolution on the budget for fiscal year 2025. The purpose of this amendment is to add a deficit-neutral reserve fund to the bill.

What It Aims to Change or Add

The amendment aims to allow the Chairman of the Senate Committee on the Budget to adjust committee allocations and other financial levels. This can only be done for legislation that ensures Federal Bureau of Investigation agents are not punished for good faith investigations relating to the events of January 6, 2021.

  • The legislation must not increase the deficit over the total period of fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
