What this amendment would do
Mr. Reed put forward this amendment, known as SA 150, to deal with a very specific money issue regarding our infrastructure. When we vote for folks to represent us, we expect them to manage our tax dollars wisely. This amendment looks at what happens when infrastructure projects cost more money because grant funding that was already promised got delayed or held up.
What It Changes in the Bill
To put it in plain English, this amendment adds a new section to the end of title III of the budget resolution.
- It gives the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate the power to change certain budget allocations and levels.
- It lets the Chairman make adjustments to the pay-as-you-go ledger.
- These changes can be made for bills, joint resolutions, amendments, and other legislative items that deal with paying for the extra costs of infrastructure projects.
- Those extra costs must be the direct result of previously awarded grant funds being delayed or withheld.
